The "Medical Careers in the Military" career panel hosted by Mr. Reed on Friday, May 2, was a great opportunity for students to learn a little more about the jobs one could have if going into the military for a medical job. The presenters showed different career opportunities including physical therapy, nursing, and more. The panelists were CDR Robin White (DNP), LTCD Thomas Slocum (DPT), HM3 Hunter McNeil, LT Buddhika Abeyratne (MPA) and OHHS alumni LTJG Lauren May (BSN). All of these presenters went in depth about deployment and what jobs you could get assigned to. After the presentations, students got to talk with the presenters one on one to get answers to their questions.

United States Border Patrol visited Oak Harbor High School earlier this month. They presented to forensics classes about the realities of border control, cleared up misconceptions, and explained how forensic science is used to protect our borders. Forensic scientists showed off modern forensic technologies used to detect contraband, such as various types of drugs and criminal activity. Students were eager to ask questions and excited to learn the intricacies of border protection. Huge thanks to the speakers who came in, we appreciate them taking the time to speak with us as well as their efforts in keeping us safe.
