Monster Truck Driver with Local Ties Makes Student's Day
|
Jack is a student at Olympic View Elementary who is unable to have typical playtime at recess. His favorite thing in the world is Monster Trucks.
It just so happens that district employee Amber Williams' son Carson, who is also an Oak Harbor Public Schools alumni, is a Monster Truck driver! This week Carson, who drives the trucks Rottweiler and Kamikaze, visited the kindergartener. He gifted him a toy Rottweiler truck and a banner that he had signed by many other drivers.
Jack even showed Carson his collection of monster trucks on the playground and they had an opportunity to play with other students together.
Thank you to Carson and Olympic View Elementary for making the day special, and thank you to Jack's family for sharing this story!

Oak Harbor High School student Faith Haley reports: Oak Harbor High School held its annual Focus on the Future event this week. Numerous colleges attended the event and created informative sessions. These sessions provided a brief overview of different available options for students post graduation. Some sessions included the college application process walkthroughs, military dependents’ educational benefits, financial aid, and so much more. Each session was dedicated to focus on any questions a student may have about their future. Photography by OHHS student Rommel Barrera Jr.

Hillcrest Elementary Rocks Green Apple Day of Service
|
Students, families, and staff at Hillcrest Elementary came together to clear garden beds, harvest the last veggies from the community garden, clean up the school grounds, and paint POD entrance doors in bright, cheerful colors to match playground equipment. Even the school's chicken coop got a complete makeover thanks to a donation of wood chips from Lefler Tree Service. Thank you, volunteers!
