Oak Harbor Public Schools is pleased to announce Russ Peters as the new permanent principal at North Whidbey Middle School. Peters spent seven years in the Assistant Principal role at North Whidbey Middle School before stepping into the interim principal role for the past two school years. Before becoming Assistant Principal at NWMS, he was a school administrator in Colorado Springs for 11 years and a math teacher for 16 years.“As principal, I am excited to establish a mission with the administration team while continuing to build a positive school culture where every student has a sense of belonging on our campus,” said Peters, “I love the energy and curiosity that each student brings to our school every day and I want to ensure every student feels safe, supported and valued at North Whidbey Middle School.”

“After interviewing students and staff, we felt that Russ’s experience, energy and connection to North Whidbey Middle School made him the best fit for the school moving forward. He has done a great job working in the interim role the past two years and I am confident he will continue to build a positive school culture centered on student needs, “ said Superintendent Dr. Michelle Kuss-Cybula.

This transition leaves the Assistant Principal role vacant at North Whidbey Middle School. District leadership will share more information soon about the selection process to fill that position.
