Seventh grade Language Arts is a communication class with writing as its primary focus.

Students work with the writing process in order to learn to communicate effectively through their writing.  We focus mostly on expository and persuasive writing, using the Oak Harbor Writing and Rating Scale to evaluate and direct our work.

A broader vocabulary facilitates effective communication, so we spend time developing vocabulary through Daily Word activities and through work with common prefixes and roots.

We also work with higher level thinking skills and application of that thinking in our work.  Students are encouraged to evaluate their styles of thinking and learning in order to more effectively and efficiently learn and share what they know.
