Mrs. Jenkins received her Bachelor of Science in Public Administration from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, and her teaching certification from Western Illinois University.  She recently received her Masters in Elementary Education from Western Washington University with a focus on reading and literacy.  While away from school she enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, friends, and extended family.  Reading, journaling, hiking and traveling are her current favorite hobbies. 

     A major part of language arts this year is concerned with the process of writing.  Besides increasing competency in writing skills, reading and critical thinking skills are also strengthened.  

     Writing this year will involve various genres such as expository, persuasive, narratives, letters, and poetry. The writing process is always followed and emphasized.

     Reading class involves literature circles, novels, non-fiction materials, vocabulary, and silent reading. Home reading is highly encouraged.
