Our Math curriculum reflects the five goals set out by the state and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics: 1) to value mathematics, 2) to become confident in carrying out mathematics, 3) to become successful problem solvers, 4) to learn to communicate mathematically, and 5) to learn to reason mathematically.

In order to reach these goals, it is crucial that students are active and consistent participants in their learning.  They must engage in classroom activities and complete all homework assignments.

Connected Mathematics is our adopted curriculum.  It includes activities, which teach traditional computation and support the understanding of mathematical principles.  It allows ample opportunity for exploration, application and communication.

These are the topics that will be covered during the 6th Grade year.

Statistics & Data Analysis - Graphs/Median/Mode/Mean/Range (Data About Us)

Number & Operations - Factors/Multiples/Prime Factorization (Prime Time)

Number & Operations - Fraction/Decimal/Percent Representation (Bits & Pieces 1)

Geometric Sense - Polygons/Angles/Shapes (Shapes & Designs)

Measurement - Area/Perimeter/Volume (Covering & Surrounding)
Number & Operations - Fraction/Decimal/Percent Computations (Bits & Pieces 2)
Statistics & Data Analysis - Probabilities/Chance/Fair Game (How Likely Is It?)
