My office is currently at the Administrative Center.  I am working half-time this year, alternating weeks on/off with school nurse Barbara Wihlborg.  If I cannot be reached, you can call Barbara at 279-5074.  We each have other school assignments so it may take some time to respond to messages left.

     Vision, hearing and scoliosis screening is completed on all 7th graders in the fall of each school year.  Referrals are sent out to parents of those students who would likely benefit from further physician follow-up.  I will also gladly check hearing or vision for any 6th or 7th or 8th grade student anytime a parent or teacher requests.

     All NWMS students are required to have a completed Certificate of Immunization Status (CIS) form on record with NWMS. As 6th graders enter the middle school, they are required to have a 2nd MMR (more specifically, measles booster) or parents need to sign the exemption.  We ask that parents either provide the date of the 2nd MMR or come to the school to sign the exemption of the CIS form.

     I present a hand washing program to nearly all OHSD kindergarten students every year and I try to take advantage of every opportunity to stress the importance of hand washing.  If each of us made an effort to wash our hands more often during the day, especially after bathroom visits and before eating, we'd probably discover that we are sick less often with colds and other viral illnesses.
